Vonoi Digital The United Nations General Assembly kicks into full swing this week. Upwards of 142 global leaders will be in New York City all at once — making it largest annual gathering of this kind in the world.
Given the enormity of the event, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has designated #UNGA as a National Special Security Event (NSSE). This is important as it brings to bear resources from every level of government. Leading the organization of this massive undertaking and ensuring the NSSE security plan meets the moment is the U.S. Secret Service. This work is grounded in superb collaboration — honed over many years by the partner agencies involved. Patrick J. Freaney, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Office, joined the New York City Police Department, Diplomatic Security Service & UNDSS for a security briefing in front of the U.N. yesterday.
